Cinquains

Today, we did a Cinquain with Mrs Bullot. We had to doodle and make it into an imaginary creature or something real. And we wrote about it. We needed 5 lines to write with. The order was 1,2,3,4, and back to 1. Cassey came up with a map for me from my doodle. It was fun.

Adding More Information

Today, we explored what were Quality Blog comments. We viewed different ones and looked at them to see if they had a greeting, positive, specific reply to the author comment. They also had thoughtful and helpful comments too. Having a  buddy also helps when we discuss what we are learning about. One skill we used was moving the labels and flip them to.

High Quality Comments

Today, we focused on creating HIGH quality comments. We used a greeting, a specific positive reply to the author. We even tried to connect through something we have done that is similar. A helpful hint is to draft your comments before posting.

Sauropod Design Template!

Today, we were talking and outlining the sauropod. It was fun using the polyline tool and customizing the sauropods skin! When it came to naming the body parts it was surprisingly easy. I realized that the plates are like jigsaw puzzles. they make the long neck dinosaurs bend easily.

My Whanau

IN RE this term we have been talking about our unique whanau which means that we are one of a kind. I have been drawing koru patterns that represent my whanau. I included my pets in my family. We got the koru patterns idea from Reuben Paterson.

We got an A4 sheet of paper, then we practiced drawing step by step the koru patterns on how to draw. I drew my pet goldfish and my cousins because they are important to me. When I finished drawing my family I started to colour in with wax crayons. I pressed it down hard because if I coloured too softly, it would not be good for holding the dye. When I finished colouring my koru patterns I could dye it with any colour. If we painted it too hard it would be torn into shredded pieces. So I painted mine blue, and I did it softly, from side to side. I coloured some spots a bit darker but it’s fine. I finished dyeing the paper and let it dry.

Quality Blog Comments

Today, we learnt how to add a helpful and thoughtful comment to a blog post reply. A helpful tip is to have a buddy read and listen to our comments. Some of the skills we used today, were arrange to the back, rotate and move our arrows into position.

St Joseph’s School

Today, I learnt how to use google maps to find my buddy school and I learnt how to resize my canvas on Google draw. I learnt that St Joseph’s school has a Scenic reserve. We took a screenshot and l annotated the places I noticed with arrows and words.

Weaving A Matariki Kite

Matariki is a time to celebrate the Maori New Year.

My star in the Matariki star cluster is Tupuarangi.

Tupuarangi is specifically linked to fruits, berries, and other foods that grow on trees and on bushes. Tupuarangi symbolises the importance of forests and their role in providing food and resources for both humans and wild animals.

We were making kites with 1 brown paper bag that we cut into two halves so the handles remained attached together. Then on both of the sides we folded them into 8 strips.

After that we designed Maori patterns on one and then on the other bag we painted it an original colour. We painted the maori design red, black, and white.

We let our two painted bags dry in the sun. Then today we started to weave them into a Matariki Kite. I persevered even though I found it very tricky and confusing. Finally we plaited three colors of twines

To make the tale. Then Mrs Yumul glue gunned a

Feather and some fern branches on to the bottom

The colors for the twines were white, black and red.

It was kinda difficult plaiting the twines.
